Work in partnership with the Director of People and Workforce Planning, to lead the development and implementation of a long-term vision for the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy (EDI) for the organization, through engagement and education

The Client is a public sector organization, which is currently developing its HR team and restructuring to a business partnership model, while undergoing a transformation to ensure its culture puts people and performance first.

The description

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Development and coaching of the Personal Services Department and the inclusion team (made up of an EDI manager and a well-being manager)
  • Develop, in partnership with the organization, a decentralized responsibility model for EDI that will drive cultural ambitions and objectives
  • Provide subject matter expertise and drive the EDI and well-being agenda as a credible and strategic partner, leveraging technical knowledge, data and the professional standard
  • Ensure that the EDI and Wellness approach, policy, interventions and procedures are aligned with the future EDI and Wellness strategy and vision
  • Chair the EDI Steering Group, using feedback and insights from the group to support the EDI Board of Directors and its development and implementation of EDI strategy, goals and metrics to support overall delivery
  • Provide relevant information and analysis on EDI and welfare management, highlighting trends and workforce issues to develop appropriate interventions
  • Develop strategies and interventions with the Talent and Workforce Planning team and the Organizational Development team to ensure that the entire lifecycle of our employees is inclusive and unbiased


The ideal candidate will have;

  • Significant experience leading EDI in a unionized environment
  • Demonstrable experience in consulting, influencing and engaging leadership on EDI
  • Strategic thinking and implementation of EDI theory, application, legislation and policy across the UK
  • Experience leading a holistic ‘whole person’ approach to wellness that focuses on awareness, prevention and sustainable recovery, not just response
  • A high level of self-awareness, emotional intelligence and the ability to resolve conflicts and deal with sensitive issues
  • Excellent project management skills to lead initiatives from planning to implementation and the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work
  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, training and coaching skills, with the ability to tailor the style and approach of delivery to meet audience needs
  • Ability to take complex information and provide clear advice to relevant stakeholders
